This once underachieving pub was stripped back to its historical core and renovated before we re-branded it under a new name. From brand identity to bar, to menu, to music, our continued involvement has made The Christmas Steps a bustling city centre hotspot.

Reintroducing a busy pub at the bottom of Bristol’s historic Tudor steps, we decided to tread the line between the old and the new with a bespoke display font.

While the interior kept many of the original features we updated them in order to fit the modern conventions of the service industry and give a playful twist between the old interior and the new.

The brand had to be flexible enough to incorporate features such as a regular programme of food and music as well as the famous Crack magazine Music Quiz. These were often displayed on the same promotional material.

As part of the pub’s updated and fresh identity we created a new digital home where the audience can be engaged and informed.

The pub is often a point of interest for artists visiting the city, so when New York rapper and culinary expert Action Bronson decided to come and taste the menu we took the opportunity to make a video about his visit.
